Hello

My name is Vikram Giyanani

I am 18 years old, and I have been going to Wakefield School since 5th Grade. I am planning on attending Wake Forest University in the Fall to major in Biological or Health & Exercise Science. I love listening to music, especially hip hop, and going to concerts and festivals such as Rolling Loud. I chose the topic of N.W.A. and their impact and influence on hip hop culture and industry because I have been listening to hip hop for as long as I can remember. My favorite artists are Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Uzi Vert. I presented my thesis using a magazine to make my argument through not just words but through pictures and lyrics.

Abstract

N.W.A. was the most influential group in hip hop. Their influence on the music industry and culture was unmatched. They took the genre of hip hop from the dance and party style that originated in the Bronx and monumentally shifted it to a national genre defined by its lyrics and beat production, popularizing West Coast’s own, gangsta rap style. N.W.A. was revolutionary in hip hop even though they only released two albums and an EP. They said whatever they wanted to say and served as spokespeople for the underrepresented African American youth. N.W.A.’s music is still played in the streets today when oppression and/or brutality are faced by the African American community.
